Toxaway Falls

No hiking required! You can enjoy the view from a nice wide pull off on Highway 64 East. Above you will be the dam of Lake Toxaway and under – 250 ft. water drop in multiple cascades over bald granite. There is no trail to go to the base of the fall, but the experienced ones can improvise at their own risk. If you have read the history of Lake Toxaway by Winslow Jones on our site you will be able to explain why you can see so much exposed rock. The Toxaway dam that currently stands is the second after the first gave a massive amount of water way to the gorge and washed the vegetation in the summer of 1916. Currently the fall is part of Gorges State Park that is another great local destination offering many activities.
